Bailey's First Birthday

On Bailey's birthday, she had her very first birthday party. She was so excited to par-tay.

Bailey had some friends over: the Taylors, Johnstons, and Torontos. We didn't realize it until everyone got there, but Bailey had an all-boy party. There wasn't one girl there! Poor girl. Bailey was really excited to have people over. She acted a little funny towards the beginning though. Once everyone got there, she just wanted me to hold her over by our faucet so she could play in the sink. It was kind of funny. She's never done that before. She just turned her back on everyone and play with the water. When I would try to take her away from it, she would get upset, and keep pointing and grunting at the sink. I think she was overwhelmed by all the people. Then she got over it, and had a lot of fun. She got to try jello for the first time. She thought it was fun--mostly just to play with, not to eat. It made a huge mess.

Then it was present time.

Bailey got a package in the mail from her Grandma and Grandpa Kellogg...

...and Grandma and Grandpa Lewis.

She also got a few cards in the mail. She had more fun looking at the cards than looking at any of her presents. Figures.

I had to do most of the opening for her.

This was one of my favorite gifts for her: a frame for her hospital picture.

Fun gifts.

She liked looking at her book.

And playing with her blocks...mostly by throwing them...

...and eating them.

(I made this. I was pretty proud of myself.)

Bailey just got her first new pair of shoes.

Bailey LOVES climbing the stairs. She could entertain herself for a long time...just climbing up, sliding down, climbing up, sliding down....

She carefully examined the new shoes she got from her Grandma and Grandpa Kellogg.

Cake time!

Bailey was a little mellow as everyone was singing to her. I blew out the candle for her.

A piece of cake, just for her.

She wasn't quite sure what to think.

She did think it was pretty cool though. She liked playing with the frosting.

Then she got her first taste...

...and liked it.

She was also very willing to share.

As expected, she made a complete mess.

Ahhh...it was worth it though. After she had her cake, I took her straight upstairs into the bathtub.

She spent the rest of the party in her pajamas. That's the way to go.

Our little angel.

She really liked the balloons.

She had fun playing with Will, the one guest who was still in diapers. They found that they had a lot in common.

After Bailey went to sleep, the party went on for quite a bit longer.

A little Wii action....

The boys had a lot of fun jumping onto our love sac. Jumping and running and flipping and rolling and punching and hitting.... It was definitely an all-boy party (bloody nose and all).

Happy first birthday, Bailey!
