Home Sweet Home

Bailey and I are FINALLY back home. It's been a pretty crazy month for us. We had company for a week and a half; then the day everyone left, we made an unexpected trip home to Michigan to see my Grandpa Miller. This was Bailey's first trip on an airplane, and, as some of you can imagine, I was a little anxious as to how things were going to go--especially since I was flying alone with her. Well, she turned out to be great, but it was still the worst flying experience I've ever had in my life.
RECAP:
Flying to Michigan:
1. Flight to Chicago was delayed.
2. Was told to go to Chicago and hope my connecting flight to South Bend was also delayed. Yeah.
3. Didn't like this suggestion. Was told I could try to make my next flight, but if missed, I could pick up my luggage in Chicago without a problem.
4. Missed my connecting flight. Dad had to drive to Chicago to pick me up. Was told they NEVER give out luggage if not at final destination. Irrate woman ahead of me in line was in similar situation. She helped me get my luggage.

Flying back to South Carolina:
Sunday: Flight to Chicago was delayed. No chance at making connecting flight. Next flight didn't leave until following morning. Had to rebook for next day and drive back home.

Monday: Flight to Chicago was delayed AGAIN. Then CANCELLED. No more flights until following day. Had to wait several hours in airport for ride home.

Tuesday: Woke up at 3:00 A.M. to be ready for 6:00 A.M. flight. FINALLY made it home.

This situation was stressful enough without having a three month old through it all. I never want to fly or see another airport again. Too bad we have another trip to take in a few weeks.
Something I learned through all of this: Never trust the people behind the ticket counter at the airport. They will tell you whatever you want to hear just to get you out of the way. They know they'll never see you again, and someone else will have to deal with you later.
After being gone for almost two weeks, Skigh couldn't believe how much Bailey had changed. She's chubbier, her cry is a little lower, and she's more aware of everything around her. He's sad that she's so different. I don't think we'll be taking any more trips this long without him.

He surprised us with decorations:

Yeah, he was pretty happy to have us back. And we're happy to have a husband and a dad again. Now I just need to get Bailey back on a normal sleeping schedule.

That's crazy! I think that totally beats any of my crazy flight stories! Is everything okay with your grandpa??

OH Berkley... my heart goes out to you! I can't even imagine what that would be like with a baby as well! You are a trooper! I am glad you arrived home safely. How is your Grandpa doing?

LOVE YOU:)

Just reading this post stressed me out! Seriously, a smooth, perfect flying experience with a baby is hard...then you add all the delays/cancels/traveling time and what a nightmare! Truly. I had no idea what an ordeal security could be with a baby and a stroller and only two hands. I hope everything is okay with your grandpa.

Oh and Tod freaks out if Lennon and I leave. When it was just me, he'd get sad...but now that we have Lennon, he can't stand missing out on any development. THEY CHANGE SO FAST!

Ohh my gosh Berks...what a nightmare. Not to mention that the reason for you having to go was sort of stressful to begin with! I hope that your grandpa is doing a little bit better. You have all been in my prayers! :-)

Welcome Home!
SOOO sad about your flights, that is the reason that Brad HATES flying and would rather drive to Chicago- crazy flight people making things difficult.
